In Pillars Of The Earth, set in 12th century England, Follett told the story of the people who built a cathedral in the fictional town of Kingsbridge. World Without End (Pan Books Publication date: October 2008 1237 pages) is Ken Follett’s companion volume to his similarly colossal novel, The Pillars Of The Earth, published in 1989. However, part of my reading goal this year is to tackle some of the unread books. Perhaps it’s the sheer length of the novel. I don’t really know why I’ve put off reading it for so long.
I’ve had this novel since September 2010 but it has remained unread, as have many other books in my collection, until very recently. Over 1200 pages long, it was a colossal read but a satisfying one for me, as if I’d taken a lavish and scrumptious meal.
I was absolutely enthralled by World Without End although it had taken me some weeks to finish it.
